"Shell was interesting because it’s very large and has so many more opportunities than the company I was working for. That’s why I switched."Roos van Ditzhuijzen, Senior Reservoir Engineer for Projects and Technology.
Meet the team
Roos van Ditzhuijzen, Senior Reservoir Engineer for Projects and Technology, came to Shell from a long career in another energy company. Mutual learning and collaboration are vital to the project Roos is working on, which aims to reinstate production at a shut-in oil field. “I gain technical knowledge just by talking to experts within Shell,” she says. “All the relevant disciplines are in the team – it’s all integrated.”
Roos explains that this collaborative culture is one element that makes Shell a great place to work. Another is the global scope of the company. “Shell has many locations; there is a very wide variety of fields that you can work in.”
It is Shell’s passionate environment, she continues, that truly drives the organisation’s culture of expertise and collaboration.
“People are really enthusiastic, eager to help and really driven. It’s very motivating.”
Parque das Conchas (BC-10)
Shell has been involved in deepwater exploration and production for over three decades, and Parque das Conchas (BC-10) was one of our most challenging and ambitious projects.
Located approximately 120 kilometres off the coast of Brazil, at a depth of nearly 2,000 metres, the scattered nature of the reservoirs of Parque das Conchas has presented a technical challenge for our highly skilled and experienced Reservoir Engineers.
Our Reservoir Engineers have developed innovative ways to access hard-to-reach reserves, such as using pioneering technology and machinery to separate oil and gas on the seabed rather than on the surface, and special umbilical cables that connect each reservoir to a power supply, feeding chemicals to the seabed production system.
It is the scale and scope of projects like these, and the opportunities they present our talented Reservoir Engineers, that make a career at Shell so exhilarating.
