Protecting forest ecosystems

Located in Izabal, on the Caribbean coast of Guatemala, the project finances the establishment of new nature reserves and supports existing natural forests which are under threat from deforestation and unsuitable land use activities.

The project area is highly important for biodiversity conservation, local water supply and its revenue supports agroforestry ecosystems and the growth of eco-tourism.
