Supporting Frimley Health NHS staff with fuel donations

NHS staff across the UK are working incredibly hard at the moment – both to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to help those with the virus recover as quickly as possible. Find out how we are helping key workers from Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust by providing fuel donations.
Since the last week of May, Shell TapUp, Shell’s mobile refuelling service, has been assisting hospital staff from the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust by filling up their personal cars while they are at work.
The Trust provides services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and South Buckinghamshire and runs three hospitals: Frimley Park in Frimley near Camberley, Heatherwood in Ascot and Wexham Park near Slough.
Shell worked closely with the Trust to identify a group of key NHS workers who would benefit from mobile refuelling. The TapUp refuelling vehicles then started visiting hospital car parks and have so far donated more than 1,900 litres of fuel to NHS staff while they worked.
One Trust volunteer commented, “it's really great that Shell and Frimley are doing this. The people who are benefitting from the free fuel are the ones who really need it the most... they are working hard, and I know they appreciate it.”
Shell TapUp was launched as a pilot in the UK in April 2020 and currently has three vehicles. As Kai-Uwe Witterstein, head of Shell TapUp, commented, “we knew we wanted to assist key workers during the pandemic and providing a free and convenient refuelling service was a simple way for us to make a modest contribution while they are hard at work. It also means that these key workers didn’t need to make extra journeys to refuel their cars after a long, hard day.”
