About the research

This research analysed data collected from January to April 2014, based on a survey of 182 low-carbon SMEs who had applied to Shell Springboard or the Carbon Trust, and qualitative interviews (ranging from 30-60 minutes) with 32 contacts (12 were low-carbon entrepreneurs and 20 were UK Trade & Investment, Foreign Commonwealth Office and trade body representatives).

It provides a financial boost to UK based, small to medium sized enterprises with innovative, low-carbon business ideas.  In the 2014 awards, a total of £330,000 was given to nine companies.
