Shell Gas (LPG) for Motorists

A cheaper, greener way to drive.

Companies that Run a fleet of vehicles can save money with a 'back to base' solution from Shell Gas (LPG).  A 'Back to base' solution is ideal for Companies with a fleet of 10 vehicles or more which returns regularly to the same depot.

This solution is easy to install and give you, your own safe mini filling station for LPG. To find out more about this service and how Shell can help you contact your account manager on 0808 208 0000.

In the UK there are around 140,000 UK motorists are currently enjoying the environmental benefits and cost savings associated with running a vehicle on LPG.

Cleaner and Greener

Although vehicles are much cleaner than in the past, they remain one of the most significant factors in air pollution. Vehicles running on LPG produce far fewer of the harmful emissions associated with traditional road fuels that contribute to environmental and health problems.

Shell Drivers' Club

Did you know you can collect Shell Drivers Club with every purchase of LPG from participating Shell Forecourts? Collect a leaflet in store or visit www.shell.co.uk/driversclub to register and find out more.

Fuel Price

The forecourt price of LPG is typically around half that of petrol and diesel so drivers and fleet operators can significantly reduce their running costs by switching to LPG. In September 2008, the average forecourt price of LPG was 58.7 ppl, Petrol was 112.9 ppl and Diesel was 124.3 ppl (Source: Fleet News 17/09/2008).

London Congestion Charge

Vehicles that are registered up to the 27th October 2008 with Transport for London will continue to receive discounts and exemptions from the charge until at least January 2010. The charge currently costs £8 per day per vehicle entering the congestion charge zone. For a vehicle entering the zone everyday this could represent an annual saving of over £2000.

Company Car Tax

CO2 emissions in LPG are lower than equivalent petrol cars thus pay less company car tax. On top of that, the government allows a further 1-2% discount on this tax when the vehicle is registered as bi-fuel.

Vehicle Excise Duty

LPG vehicles may be eligible for lower rates of Graduated Vehicle Excise Duty (Road Tax) as they produce less of the environmentally harmful emissions associated with traditional fuels. For example, a 1.8 Vauxhall Vectra running on Autogas would be liable for an annual duty of £115 compared with £150 for the same vehicle running on petrol, a saving of £35.
