Former employees of Shell-Mex and BP may also join the 44 Club. Life membership costs £4
Pensioners may be eligible for assistance from the Shell-Mex and BP Pensioners Benevolence Association.
The club was formed in 1955 with the aim of keeping long-serving employees in touch with one another.
It is open to anyone with Group service of at least 40 years and who is permanently resident in the UK.
So that members can meet with old colleagues, a cocktail party is held in conjunction with the AGM in the spring of each year and a lunch is organised in the autumn. These events normally take place around the London area. A handbook of members is published regularly.
If there are any pensioners who might qualify but have not been invited to join the club and who would like to know more, they should write to The Secretary, Shell Four-Star Club, Room C2013, Shell Centre, York Road, London SE1 7NA or email shellfourstarclub@yahoo.co.uk
