Benevolence Fund
Two charities aim to help members who are in need, usually identified with the help of PLRs. If the trustees support the case they make a grant or interest-free loan.

Examples of the kind of help provided include stairlifts, downstairs bathroom, mobility aids and urgent housing repairs. They also cover small items such as dentures, spectacles and microwaves. Each Christmas SPBA sends just under 500 cheques for £250 to needy pensioners.
Both charities rely on donations from members with over 800 contributors. Nothing is spent on advertising although administration costs are borne by the Company.
