Family Day is highlight of Science Week

Last week, over 2,300 children were inspired by a series of science workshops run by the Shell Education Service across Ellesmere Port. The week culminated on 19 November, with a Family Science day which took place at William Stockton Primary School and was attended by 276 people.
The day involved children and their families taking part in science investigations into electricity, energy transfer, forces and motion and materials.
Sarah Langford, one of the workshop leaders from the Shell Education Service – said: “This family science day and week of workshops have been a real success and they encourage children to explore and question science in a fun, hands-on way. It’s clear many of the children have engaged with the excitement and fun of science.”
“Getting children interested and enjoying science at an early age is very important. It is fantastic that SES continues to reach 60,000 children each year across the UK with science activities like those here today. Some of the biggest challenges facing us need people with science skills to find the solutions. Encouraging children to continue with their science studies is a good first step” said Jane Davis, Thornton Communications Manager.
